Bass Guitars

We like to think of the range of bass guitars we’ve got at BBZGuitars’ music shop in High Wycombe as small but beautifully formed. In putting our collection together we’ve incorporated what we consider are some of the best non-super-logo basses to match budgets of all sizes, from luthiers like Italia, St Blues, Fret King, Tanglewood, Aria, Ventures and Vintage (JHS). You can check out what we’ve got in-stock by visiting our online guitar shop. Alternatively, if you prefer to shop in person, a warm welcome awaits you at our Buckinghamshire guitar shop in High Wycombe.

All of our bass guitars receive a professional set-up before going on sale in our Bucks music shop. We also provide a Free one-year set-up warranty on basses bought from BBZGuitars. Your BBZ’s warranty entitles you to two free set-ups in the first 12 months of purchase, plus a full bass health check - all you pay for are the strings.

Italia basses are a breed apart, with their retro styling and a wide range of body shapes, finishes and pickup options. Designed from scratch by Trev Wilkinson, Italia basses have caused a stir in the market, offering great rock, blues, jazz and pop tones. We endeavour to keep a few of these basses in stock in our High Wycombe guitar shop, but they do tend to move quickly. Check out the piezo pickup-loaded Maranello Z Bass, the Rimini Bass with mini humbuckers, as used by the Kaiser Chiefs, and other great innovations like the Modula with individual lipstick pickups for each string and the Mondial with a large EB3 type humbucker at the neck and a piezo (with separate EQ and volume) under the bridge. We think that the Italia basses offer something different in styling and specification whilst remaining great value for money.

Another design by the hugely talented Trev Wilkinson is the Fret King range of basses. These stunning instruments are created with flair and innovation, yet offer a level of versatility which belies their appearance. Currently, we’re stocking models at our High Wycombe music shop from the Fret King Blue Label series; these beauties are designed in the UK and manufactured at Trev’s production plant in Korea.

If you’re looking for a high quality reasonably priced acoustic bass, Tanglewood is worth a test drive. With solid spruce tops and mahogany bodies and necks, these instruments not only perform beautifully, they look exquisite too. Although there are a lot more acoustic guitar players in Buckinghamshire, we always like to keep one or two of these models in the guitar shop.

Vintage by JHS has, under the guidance of Trev Wilkinson, produced a great range of basses for every style of player. You’ll see these basses being used by professionals on TV, all the time which, considering their price tag, speaks volumes for their build quality, playability and gigability. Vintage offers left and right handed models of its basses, many of which are ‘inspired by’ super-brands, like Fender, Warwick, Ernie Ball Musicman and others. We’ve usually got at least a couple of right handed models in-stock for visitors to our High Wycombe music shop and if you’re after a lefty, we can normally order one in within a couple of days.

The build quality, choice of woods and tone you can get from these instruments is incredible, especially since they start at a jaw dropping price of under £300. From beginner to professional and everywhere in-between, Trev and JHS have made a bass that fits; we think they’re well worth checking out and should be seriously considered when buying your first bass, upgrading your existing one or just adding to your collection.

To view the selection of basses we have in stock, including our collections from Aria and Ventures, visit out online guitar shop or drop into BBZGuitars music shop in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
