Our collection of electric guitars boasts some of the best-kept secret gems of the guitar world, including Gordon Smith, Hamer, Italia, St Blues, First Act and, of course, Vintage guitars from JHS. Gordon Smith guitars are hardworking British-made electric guitars with a clean and distinctive tone; BBZ’ MD, Steve Busby, has had one in his personal collection for more than 10 years and swears he’d let his Gibsons and Fenders go before his Gordon Smith. Not only are they beautiful to look at, they’re also extremely versatile for the price which should make them very appealing if you’re a gigging musician. We’ve got some superb GS models in-stock but you can also order a custom-built guitar if you don’t mind the wait.

Hamer electric guitars are all about performance, looks and value for money. Compare Hamer models like the P90 Goldtop, the XT Vector or the Sunburst Archtop, all of which we stock, with equivalent Fender and Epiphone badged guitars and you might be surprised to see the super-brands getting outperformed. If you’re just starting out with the guitar, Hamer can also be a really good choice, particularly if you’re after a competitively priced guitar with the kind of looks and styling you might find on your favourite PRS or Gibson.

Italia guitars have got to be the gigging musician’s choice and, with their stunning retro form, you can expect loads of attention whenever you take them out in public. Arguably the most comfortable and responsive range we offer, Italia electric guitars really deliver the best of both worlds - a smooth rounded sound on clean channels and a superb rock or blues vibe with overdrive. Because they’re a popular buy, we tend to keep a healthy number of Italias in-stock, including a good selection of Maranello, Mondial and Rimini models in different colours.

St Blues electric guitars - don’t be misled by the name - are possibly the most versatile instruments you can pick up; everything from experimental pop, punk, progressive rock, blues and jazz can be squeezed out of these axes. They also give you the brightest and longest sustain you could every hope for, not to mention a clean and lucid sound, even with the guitar volume turned down. The Bluesmaster and Bluescaster guitars always get fantastic reviews in the press, plus they’re pretty good value for money; you’ll normally find between five and six of these models in-stock at BBZGuitars.

First Act guitars give you near-perfect action and intonation, right out of the box. We stock the latest range of electric guitars from First Act and have a good selection of Lola, Sheena and Delia models available for test-drive at our High Wycombe showroom. These guitars are not for metal-heads but if you’re after a nice plump bluesy or jazzy sound, you’re in for a treat. They’re also great for rock and roll. Customers who buy First Act guitars tend to be fairly picky (no pun intended) and are generally introducing First Act to existing collections featuring CS editions of Gibson, Fender and other super-brand models.

Vintage electric guitars, from JHS, have something for everyone and every musical genre as well. Whilst some models (definitely not all) may be similar in styling and feel to premium brands such as Gibson, Epiphone and Fender, Vintage beats them all when it comes to value for money. Like Italia guitars, Vintage is one of our best-selling brands and that’s probably because where tone, playability and build quality are concerned, Vintage is very difficult to beat for the price.
