As a long time user (and fan) of Korg digital recording/ effects equipment and, of course Vox amps, I’ve just recently signed up as a Vox and Korg dealer in Buckinghamshire, so I thought I’d write a brief blog on my perceptions of the Vox Valvetronix amps, we’ve now got in stock at our High Wycombe guitar showroom.
I am very impressed with the AD15VT, AD30VT and AD50VT combos, which use clever technology and include a 12AX7/ECC83 valve in the pre-amp to deliver a huge range of accurate sounds for a great value-for-money price.
Check out the specs:
11 amp models, including
Boutique CL, Black 2x12, Tweed 4 x12, AC15, AC30TB, UK ‘70s, UK ‘80s,
UK Modern, Numetal, US Higain & Boutique OD.
11 Digital Effects + Noise Gate, including Reverb, Delay, Rotary+Reverb, Tremolo+Reverb, Flanger+Reverb, Chorus+Reverb, Chorus+Delay, Comp+Chorus, Comp+Phaser, Comp & Auto Wah.
The AD30VT and AD50VT have an attenuator-like function where you can roll the amps output from 1~30 watts (or 50) Watts respectively. This is a really nice facility which lets you play ‘quieter’ without losing the tone you get when the volume’s cranked!
The 15 and 30 watt amps come with specially designed, and excellent sounding, Vox speakers, while the 50 Watt has a 12” Celestion (or 2 x 12) driver.
All-in-all, a great package, starting just north of £130.
As for other Vox products I got some of the classic Vox wah-wah pedals and have ordered the Satchurator pedal which was designed with Joe Satriani. Unlike some of these other, so called, signature effects pedals, Joe has actually used the Satchurator to record on his latest album - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock. Watch for these, I’ve tried one and I think they knock Ibanez Tube Screamers out of the park. Look out for these being in-store in the September October time-frame; come down and try them out. When VoxJam is available we’ll get some of those too; these allow you to ‘tune-out’ specific parts of a recording and play along with the band yourself. Kind of Guitareoke, if you like!
More later on the Korg products as they become available too, the new Pandora 5D is quite something with its USB link and recording software programme for Mac or PC.
