12 January, 2009 - BBZGuitars of High Wycombe has expanded its range of Indie guitars to include the brand new limited edition Custom Shop Flying V and LP guitars. The Flying V and LP, of which there are only 16 models world-wide, are on-sale at the Buckinghamshire guitar showroom at £899, representing a saving of more than £350 on the recommended retail price.

To develop its Custom Shop models, Indie has taken four of its most senior luthiers, off the main production line but BBZGuitars' boss, Steve Busby, thinks it's worth the risk as he believes the new instruments will rival any of the super-logo’d guitars when it comes to performance, quality and investment and can only help to enhance the Indie brand.

"If you are looking for a collectable guitar that will increase in value, while you are gigging and recording with it, then either of these models could be your baby," said Busby.

The Indie Custom Shop guitars are made from selected tone woods (mahogany and maple), and come with ebony fretboards, featuring the tree of life abalone inlay. The bodies are both thru-flamed and have satin matt finishes. The necks have been carefully shaped for effortless high fret access and are set into the bodies.

Whilst the Flying V has a classic licensed Floyd Rose bridge and locking nut, the LP has a tune-o-matic bridge set up. Both have a pair of the high output Indie DV8 humbucker pickups, with micro-switches for coil tapping and passive/active modes. Neither guitar is light, but they are well balanced and sit comfortably on a strap. The ‘build quality’ of both models ensures great clarity of tone, even at the highest levels of gain, with an almost endless sustain.

The LP can 'step up' for any genre of music, especially with the coil tap and active switches providing a huge spectrum of sounds from jazz, funk, blues, rock, punk to detuned metal. And, whilst the Flying V is an unlikely choice for jazz players, BBZGuitars has found it extremely versatile for blues, blues/rock, straight rock, as well as its staple metal sounds.
