25 July, 2008 - Guitar technician, Tom Lyons, has become the latest music professional to recommend Buckinghamshire based guitar specialists BBZGuitars of High Wycombe for its product range and customer service. Lyons, whose career has featured great artists, including Spooky Tooth, Ray Minhinnett and Frankie Millers Full House, is a keen guitarist and bass player himself and is currently touring with the legendary English blues rock band, Ten Years After.

"As a backline technician, I’m responsible for ensuring the bands get on-stage on-time, and have everything they need for their performance," said Lyons. "This involves a whole raft of activities, from setting up amps, drums, keyboards, etc., through to tuning equipment, making any necessary changes to set-ups, liaising between the monitor engineer and the band on the mix, and a million and one other things."

When he's not on-tour, Lyons is also responsible for maintaining all of the equipment, which was how he first came across BBZGuitars.

“Guitar retailers can be very intimidating, particularly when you're just starting to play, but I always enjoy popping into BBZGuitars," said Lyons. "Steve, the owner, is very helpful and he's really passionate about guitars; nothing's too much trouble so it's a great place to try out guitars."

"Although I really enjoy being a guitar tech, it can be a bit frantic at times and the band will often need accessories and effects at the last minute so it’s not only really important to know what’s going on with your orders, it’s also important to receive them quickly – both of which I get from BBZGuitars," he said.
